Did You Know Manzanita and the North Oregon Coast is Extremely Pet Friendly??
We Love Dogs
And it shows. You’ll find hitching posts for leashes and water bowls kindly set out for thirsty pups.
But pet owners want to know – what’s the inside scoop for dogs in Manzanita and the rest of the incredible north Oregon coast? Well, we’re here to help! From the annual Muttzanita celebration to the dog friendly businesses and lodging, Manzanita and the surrounding area is the perfect place for your pet friendly Oregon Coast vacation!
For many, the call of waves against the beach is more than enough reason to drive to pack your gear and head to the coast for some play and relaxation with your family pooch. But it’s nice to know that the Pacific NW, specifically the north Oregon coast, offers pooches and their human family much more than just fun on the beach.
Preparing For Your Pet Friendly Manzanita Vacation
Unless you have your own coast vacation home, the first task at hand is finding pet friendly accommodations. Besides our own pet friendly beachside Manzanitanvacation rentals, you’ll find there are hotels and other vacation rentals in Manzanita and the north coast area that also include pet friendly lodging.
When booking your Manzanita vacation rental or other accommodation, the initial task is to double check whether your pet is welcome. Be sure to mention if you’re planning on traveling with more than one pet.
Take advantage of the opportunity to find out what pet friendly amenities your accommodation has.
- Is there a fenced in pet area?
- What are the requirements for pets left alone – do you need to bring your pet’s crate with you?
- Are towels provided for sandy paws? Do you need to supply them?
- Are there bowls for pet dinner and drink?
- Are bags provided for pet waste?
Or camp or rent a pet friendly yurt at the Nehalem Bay State Park. Pets are allowed in specific yurts. Ask about pet fees. There is a two pet limit, including both cats and dogs.
While in the park, your pet needs to be physically restrained. This is defined as holding them, holding onto their collar, or have them on a leash no longer than six feet. The exceptions are if your pet is in an off-leash area; inside your vehicle, tent, or pet-friendly yurt; or on the beach. In these cases, they must be under voice control and within sight.
And lastly, before hitting the road, familiarize yourself with signs and relief for pet car sickness.
