We love Manzanita Beach and Oregon in November!
As it happens, Thanksgiving at our Manzanita Rentals is one of the busiest times of the year. Like any time at the Oregon Coast, Oregon weather in November can be rainy. But unbeknownst to many Manzanita Beach vacationers, November can surprise us with sunny, tee shirt weather!
Check out Manzanita Beach weather and the rest of the Oregon coast here. Some of our best Thanksgiving memories include times when our family hiked up Neahkahnie mountain, or boogie boarding in the sunny surf.
Besides our wonderful seven mile Manzanita Beach and the potential for surprising sunny Oregon in November days, there are several events to look forward to in November on the Oregon Coast.
2020 Update: While many business are on limited hours and restrictions due to the Coronavirus event, there are many businesses still open, and restaurants are either open for dining, or for takeout. Our coastal events for Oregon in November kick off in Astoria with the 6x6 Art Show and Auction benefiting the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum. Over you'll find over 60 art pieces created by some of the region’s most talented artists auctioned, with the silent auction lasting until 8:00 pm. A very fun evening for a very worthy cause!
Check out the grey whale migration from the perfect Neahkahnie lookout! Avid Oregon Coast whale watchers are sure to spot some of the nearly 20,000 grey whales that start their winter migration south to the warm waters of Mexico.
Even better, the Oregon State Parks Whale Watching site lists the Historical Marker at the Neahkahnie Lookout on Hwy. 101, Ecola State Park, and Cape Meare's State Scenic Viewpoint among the 24 best Oregon Coast whale watching places. Right in our own North Oregon Coast backyard!
Have fun at the Stormy Weather Arts Festival in nearby Cannon Beach! Our Manzanita Rental guests love this event. The festival celebrated it's 30th Anniversary last year in 2017, and is one of the many reasons that Cannon Beach was named in The 100 Best Art Towns in America: a Guide to Galleries, Festivals, Lodging, and Dining .

The Stormy Weather Art Festival encompasses a large swath of both visual and the performing arts. Visitors are able to meet arts and discuss their work, take in some local music and meet the musicians, enjoy a multitude of events at the wonderful Cannon Beach galleries, and enjoy special performances at the Coaster Theatre Playhouse.
Catch the Dancing in the Rain Fashion Show featuring fashions and frills from local and nationally known designers, and enjoy the Brews, Blues & Barbecues featuring local craft beers, local blues music, and a yummy barbecue lunch. Help kick off the event Friday night at the Stormy Weather Arts Benefit Cocktail & Dessert Party.
Go Crabbing near Manzanita Beach and the North Oregon coast when you visit the coastal areas of Oregon in November. The general rule of thumb if you wanna go crabbing is do it in a month with an ‘r’ such as November, January, February, March, etc. According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the timing your crabbing trip in the fall is more important to success than figuring out which location is best. They claim late September through November is usually the very best, with more good crabbing available late summer to early winter.
Manzanita Beach Life Insider tip: You'll find slack water, the time around high or low tide, are the best times to crab. During slack water, crabs are generally moving around and foraging since they are not getting hit by the moving waters of tidal exchange.
Grab licenses, gear, rent a boat, and you're ready to go. Both Kelly's Brighton Marina and the Wheeler Marina are great local resources, just under five miles south of Manzanita Beach. They'll show you everything you need to know. They'll even cook your crab for you - which puts a big smile on the face of crabbers everywhere!

Oregon in November at the coast also brings the Seaside Downtown Fall Wine Walk. Wine afficiandos can sample some of the best from over twenty Oregon Wineries. Not just, wine, you'll find complimentary appetizers, and go home with a commemorative wine glass.
Towards the end of November you'll also find holiday fun begins which such events at Mimosa Madness, Holiday wreath making and the annual Lighting Ceremony in Cannon Beach,
Get out for a wonderful hike at the coast! November in Oregon is the perfect time to get out and hike one of the wonderful great outdoor spaces. Hike the easy Kilchis Point Reserve paths to see the best of the Oregon coast in November. We have guests visit our Manzanita Rentals simply to enjoy the peaceful November Manzanita Beach area hikes.
Take the relatively easy five mile round trip hike at Cape Falcon in Oswald West state park. Besides all the beauty the Oregon coast has to offer in November, you'll also find viewpoints where you might spot the migrating birds and gray whales.
Or are you one of the select group of visitors that love Oregon Coast Storm Watching? Oregon Coast Storm Watching has become popular for those in the know thanks to the occasional truly powerful storm that hit our north coast area. In fact, a little south of Cannon Beach you'll find aptly named Cape Foulweather.
Yep, our weather can sometimes be rainy and windy, but many find beauty in a storm front rolling in over the Pacific Ocean during November in Oregon. Nature can put on a spectacular show on the Oregon Coast. In our area, some of the good viewing areas are the lookouts on Neahkahnie Mountain or check out the view of Terrible Tilly, the abandoned light house best viewed from Ecola State Park.
